Year 6: Da Vinci and Kandinsky Class
Welcome to Year 6 Da Vinci & Kandinsky
Welcome to Year 6! The class teacher for Kandinsky class is Mrs Looney, and the class teacher for Da Vinci is Miss Ellis. Our teaching assistants are Mrs Toms and Mrs Courtney. In Year 6 we love learning and always try our best throughout all lessons!
The Autumn Term is especially exciting for the children in Year 6 as in October we go on our residential trip to PGL. Some of our topics for the autumn term include: learning about the Battle of Britain and how World War Two changed our local area in history; electricity and the circulatory system in science; volcanoes, earthquakes and mountains; drawing and painting and collage in art; and cooking our own food and studying mechanisms during D&T. We are just as busy in the spring term where some of our topics include: comparing the Lake District, the Tatra Mountains in Poland and Jamaica including the Blue Mountains in geography; The Windrush in history; singing and the keyboard in music; and light and living things and their habitats in science. During the summer term, some of our topics include: learning about five influential monarchs through from 1066: William I, Henry VIII, Elizabeth I, Charles II and Victoria in history, evolution and inheritance in science; and electrical systems and textiles in D&T. We take our SATs tests in May and get ready for the exciting transition to secondary school. We also work hard towards our Year 6 production in July.
