School Nursing
When your child starts school at 5 years old, the school nursing service takes over from the health visiting service. The service works with children, young people, parents, carers and school staff at mainstream, state-funded schools. School nurses promote physical and mental health and wellbeing for children and young people.
Parents, teachers, GPs and professionals can refer a child. Young people can also self-refer themselves to the service. Click here to refer your child.
Children in Reception and Year 6 receive height and weight screening by the school nurses. See the attached letters for more information. Parents are permitted to 'opt out' of this screening by contacting the School Nurses directly.
