Welcome to Year 4 Picasso
Welcome to Picasso class! Our teachers are Mrs Hoy and Miss James and we also have Mrs Little to help us with our learning.
In Year 4 we love learning through a creative curriculum and always try our best in all lessons.
In the Autumn Term, our History topic is the Anglo-Saxons and Vikings. We get to be archaeologists, discovering artefacts from different eras, before learning about how the Anglo- Saxons lived and came to Britain. We also have an Anglo-Saxon day where we create shields, brooches and illuminated letters and have great fun dressing as Anglo-Saxons. Our Science topic for this term is Sound, where we investigate how sound travels by making string telephones. In addition to this, we explore our class artist through the different periods in his life, using mixed media.
In the Spring Term, we learn about our local area and how important Hatfield and ‘De Havilland’ was during WW11. In Science lessons, our topics are Electricity and States of Matter. We enjoy making our own electrical circuits, as well as investigating how things change state.
In the Summer Term, our History topic is the Egyptians - an ancient civilisation that we find fascinating! In our Geography lessons we explore Jungles and Deserts. We link this to Art, investigating cultural art using printing and collage techniques and to Science, where we explore living things and their habitats.
We love to share our learning via ‘Google’ classroom so that you can get excited about it too!!
