Welcome to Year 6 Kandinsky
We have two classes – Da Vinci and Kandinsky.
In Da Vinci class, our teacher is Mrs O’Connor and our teaching assistant is Mrs Courtney. In Kandinsky class, our teachers are Mrs Looney and Mrs Coulshed and our teaching assistant is Mrs Toms. Mrs Shephard and Mrs Hooper also work across both of our classrooms.
In our year group, we love learning through a creative curriculum and always try our best throughout all lessons!
In the Autumn Term our topic is ‘World War II’ where we work to answer ‘Big Questions’ about various turning points such as the Battle of Britain. Our Science topics for this term are ‘Electricity and Light’. In Computing lessons we will be creating our own videos. Mrs Coulshed teaches excellent music lessons across our year group. Not forgetting our trip to PGL where we learn to become awesome abseilers, zealous zip-wirers and wilderness survivors.
In the Spring Term we begin learning about the ‘Shang Dynasty’ – an ancient Chinese civilisation. In science lessons, we will be learning about ‘Living things’ and their habitats. Where we learn about all sorts of animals and living things – including mould!
Then Summer Term in Year 6 is always a busy one; after our SAT’s (which take place in May) we start to look forward to preparing for our transition on to Secondary school! We learn about ‘Climate Change’ and look at Global Trade. We work on our leavers assembly, which we usually write ourselves.
